Steven Tyler

Steven TylerUnder the direction of Frank Connelly, their first manager, they spent some time playing Boston's clubs. The group began working with Steve Leber (New York) and David Krebs (New York). The band signed a record deal in 1972 and debuted their debut album, titled "Eponymous," in 1973. The album was followed in 1973 by Get Your Wings. Toys in the Attic. Rocks. And Draw the Line. These albums have helped Aerosmith achieve international fame. These albums are the origin of iconic hits like "Dream On", Walk This Way as well as "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's five first albums all went multi-platinum. Toys in the Attic and Rocks were also multi-platinum. As the decade went by however, the group's hectic lifestyle of playing, recording and staying together was beginning to wear their bodies. Because of their notorious use of stimulants and heroin, Tyler and Perry were sometimes referred to as the Toxic Twins. Their relationship is well documented in many of Aerosmith's video recordings and also in the Aerosmith Behind the Music. Tyler Perry, who was evidently more dedicated to the band appeared to dislike Perry's passiveness and admire Perry's focus on females in his life. The tense dynamic between Tyler, Perry, and their former girlfriends was one of the main reasons for the decline of Aerosmith in the 1980s.
